Former Komen VP Karen Handel lands book deal

This past February, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation found itself at the center of a political controversy over its funding of Planned Parenthood. Komen severed ties with Planned Parenthood, only to reverse its decision the shortly thereafter following a public outcry. Handel resigned from her position as senior VP of public policy at the foundation on the heels of the reversal, citing public focus on her rather than on Komen’s mission.
The motivations behind her resignation likely went deeper, as Handel is a pro-life Republican who takes great issue with Planned Parenthood. In her upcoming book, “Planned Bullyhood,” set for a September 11 release, Handel will offer further insight into her experience at Komen and put to rest any remaining speculation as to why she resigned.
